Hmong Family Mission Day in Fresno
Hmong Family Mission Day was held on October 28, Saturday, 2017.
The one day mission provides an opportunity for NCBC members who are willing to spend time for domestic mission in Fresno or those who missed a chance to participate NCBC mission trip abroad (like South Africa, Israel/Palestine, Turkey, Japan, Greece and India this year).
Since last year (2016), we have been serving ethnic people in Fresno (mainly Hmong people), in collaboration with Harmony Korean Church.
One interesting aspect of the Hmong mission is that all family members (young and old, husband and wife, ladies and gentlemen, boy and girl, KM and EM) should provide helping hands to each other.
This year, we have prepared for similar activites as last year: house-to-house evangelism for kids and adults, bible study, skit, games, crafts, choir performance, and add one more service for local adutls: oriental medicine practice.
Although there was a bit of confusion in the beginning in terms of assigning drivers for many areas, helpers and translators, we were able to distribute evangelism materials, small gift items and collect kids who would like to partipate activities at Harmony Church. Due to elaborate preparation by Pastor Ray and Pastor Abe Hwang of Harmony Church in terms of dividing Fresno for effective pick-up of kids, the process went smoothly. We picked up more than 70 kids and brought them to Harmony Church.
Near the end of all the activities (around 2:30 PM), kids expressed their satisfaction and eager participation for the whole program.
Everyone's hardwork has been rewarded by those kids' happy face and their request for asking more frequent visits by NCBC!!
Here are some of representative photos:
At 6:15 AM, NCBC Parking Lot, Pastor Ray was praying for safe trip to Fresno. This year more than 100 people from NCBC, KM and EM, plus many church staffs participated in Fresno.
Pastor Ray prayed again for day's activities: first of all, real impact to local Hmong and ethnic kids/youths by God's words, spreading more of God's love and grace to all participants.
Driver list: wishing ad-hoc logistics might work! All drivers, assistants for evangelism and traslators worked so hard. In the end, we were able to bring more than seventy kids and youths for day's activities.
Lunch time in kitchen and dining hall. Delicious Costco pizza made many kids happy! They are now so obedient and follow the rule well!
New Service This Year: Oriental Medicine Service for local adults. So popular! We found many, many happy customers that day. This will be an effective tool for adult evangelism and ministry for the future.
Energetic sermon by Pastor Jae Han, as usual!
Kids' game: fortunately, the weather was not that hot this time. All the kids participated well.
One of the most poular event: Youth Choir Team's Skit Performance.
Craft time: everyone followed instructions well.
Jeannette Samonim pepared binders for drivers so elaboately: color coded for each zone, a kid and a driver. Picking and dropping off kids were breeze.
Near the end of the day: kids were hesitant to leave the church.
Gathering at the parking lot for group photo, icecream bar time and find the driver to go home safely!!
