Hello Everyone,
I'd like to start talking about "Lent" today~
Lent is the season of preparation for Easter. It starts on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter, lasting for 40 days (not counting Sundays). We prepare for Easter by fasting and practicing spiritual discipline during this time - to reflect on Jesus' sacrifices. Basically, Lent is a time for "spring cleaning" our lives while giving thanks to God and strengthening our relationship with Him.
Faith kids and I started "Jelly Bean Prayer for Lent" from last Tuesday (3/18) including Sundays!
Using various colors of jelly beans to describe a virtue, children are given a jelly bean for each good deed collecting them up until Easter!
For example, Red for the blood of Christ (a sacrifice), Green for the shade of the palm (doing a good deed), Yellow for God's light (kindness to others), Pink for each new tomorrow (forgiving others), and Orange for prayers! They also can have jelly beans to not watch TV and to not play video games that day, too!
I'll give all the jelly beans they collected on Easter Sunday~^^
Please encourage them to do these activities during Lent!
And here are the details of this past Sunday's messages:
• 1st Session (Daniel Chapter 5)... God used Daniel's wisdom to get King Nebuchadnezzar's attention about his pride. The king acted like he was better than God. God humbled the king. Jesus humbled Himself by dying on the cross for our sin. God raised up Jesus and gave Him honor. When we humble ourselves and trust in Jesus, God raises us up too, and we will be with Him forever in heaven.
• 2nd Session (The Story Book, Chapter 7, The Battle Begins!)... Through the battle for Jericho, God's message was that "Here is the land I promised so long ago. Rejoice in your victory! And let my name be known among the nations that I am the one true God, and you are my chosen people!"
• Important days to remember:
* 4/18(Fri) 7:30pm Good Friday Worship
* 4/19(Sat) 12:30-3:30pm Easter Fun Fair
* 4/20(Sun) 11:30am Easter Joint Worship

안녕하세요~ 오늘은 "사순절" 이야기로 먼저 시작하려고 합니다!
사순절은 부활절을 준비하는 기간을 뜻합니다. 재의 수요일(3/5)부터 시작하여 부활절까지 주일을 제외한 40일을 의미하며, 이 기간동안 금식이나 경건의 훈련을 통하여 예수님의 희생을 생각하는 기간으로, 하나님께 감사드리며 우리의 삶을 더욱 정결케하는 봄에 맞이하는 시간입니다.
Faith 아이들과 저는 지난 3/11, 화요일부터 주일을 포함한 40일 사순절을 위한 "Jelly Bean Prayer (젤리 빈 기도)!"를 시작하였습니다.
젤리 빈의 빨간 색은 주님의 희생, 초록색은 승리의 상징으로 좋은 일을 하였을 때에, 노간색은 하나님의 빛으로 친절한 행동을 하였을 때에, 분홍은 누군가를 용서해 주었을 때에, 오렌지는 기도하였을 때에, 그리고 비디오 게임이나 TV를 하지 않았거나 보지않은 날 등으로 아이들이 매일매일 실천한 일에 대하여 젤리 빈을 모은 숫자만큼 부활절 주일에 상으로 주기로 약속하셨습니다~^^

다음은 지난 주일 설교 내용입니다.
• 1부 예배 (다니엘서 5장)... 하나님은 다니엘에게 지혜를 허락하셔서 느부갓네살왕의 자만을 꾸짖으셨습니다. 왕은 하나님보다 자신이 더 위대한 것 같은 행동들을 하였지만 하나님은 그의 생명을 빼앗으시며 겸손을 가르치셨습니다.
예수님께서는 우리 죄를 위하여 스스로 낮아지셔서 십자가에 못박혀 돌아가셨습니다! 하나님께서는 그러한 예수님을 높혀 주시고 영광의 자리를 허락하셨습니다. 우리도 겸손히 주님을 따를 때에 하나님께서 우리를 높여주시고 또한 천국에서 주님과 영원히 살게 될 것입니다!
• 2부 예배 (스토리 북, 7과, 시작된 전쟁!)... 여리고 성 함락의 이야기는 유명합니다. 이번 주일 한어부 예배에서 손목사님께서 믿음에 관하여 말씀하실텐데요, 아이들과 함께 하나님께서 여리고성 함락을 위해 사용하신 방법에 대해 이야기해 보셔도 좋을 듯 합니다~^^
